Pakistan’s IT Minister Reviews Preparations for Roll-out of 5G Technology

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and President and Group CEO of PTCL Hatem Bamatraf on Tuesday discussed the rollout of 5G technology, right-of-way issues, and the important aspect of fiberization within the telecommunications sector.

During the meeting, the minister emphasized the significant role of the telecommunications sector in the national economy.

She said that efforts are underway to expedite work on matters such as 5G and other matters related to the telecom sector.

The PTCL President expressed a desire to further strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and the UAE.

Pakistan’s Youth a Valuable Asset

Shaza Fatima Khawaja also met with the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Mukhtar Ahmed and discussed in detail the matters of IT graduate training programs, startups, and empowering youth with skills.

She said that there should be a minimal gap between industry and academia in the IT field as such initiatives are important to provide a skilled workforce to IT companies worldwide.

The minister stressed that Pakistan’s youth are a valuable asset and should be effectively branded in the global market.
