Pakistan’s IT Service Exports Witness 12.78 Percent Increase

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s revenue from Information Technology (IT) services to various countries totaled US $1,719.921 million in the first seven months of fiscal year 2023-24, marking a 12.78% growth compared to the US $1,524.969 million earned in the same period last fiscal year, said the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The export of computer services increased by 14.09%, rising from US $1,224.499 million to US $1,397.051 million during July-January 2023-24. Software consultancy services saw a 1.14% increase from US $3.502 million to US $3.542 million, while hardware consultancy services surged by 4.73% from US $454.283 million to US $475.783 million.

However, exports of repair and maintenance services decreased by 12.17% from US $1.594 million to US $1.400 million. The exports and imports of computer software services grew by 2.71%, from $349.635 million to $359.094 million.

On the other hand, exports of information services dropped by 19.62% from US $2.600 million to US $2.090 million. Information-related services increased by 1.99%, from US $0.804 million to US $0.820 million, while news agency services decreased by 29.29%, from US $1.796 million to US $1.270 million.

Telecommunication services’ exports increased by 7.69%, rising from US $297.870 million to US $320.780 million. Within this category, call centers services’ exports increased by 18.95% from US $121.349 million to US $144.350 million, while other telecommunication services witnessed a slight decrease of 0.05%, from US $176.521 million to US $176.430 million this year, as per PBS data.
