Pakistan’s IT Services Export Exceeds $892 Million in First Four Months of Fiscal Year

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Information Technology (IT) services export reached over $892 million in the first four months of the current fiscal year 2023-24, marking a 4.45% growth compared to the same period last fiscal year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The export of computer services demonstrated a 4.81% increase, rising from $688.078 million to $721.162 million from July to October 2023. Within computer services, software consultancy services experienced a significant surge of 93.76%, reaching $1.955 million from $1.009 million. Hardware consultancy services also grew by 1.13%, reaching $256.408 million from $253.543 million.

Repair and maintenance services showed a 3.16% increase from $0.443 million to $0.457 million. The export and imports of computer software services increased by 4.01%, from $190.228 million to $197.862 million.

However, information services’ export witnessed a decline of 25.18%, falling from $1.390 million to $1.040 million. Among information services, information-related services increased by 21.04% from $0.366 million to $0.443 million, while news agency services decreased by 41.70%, dropping from $1.024 million to $0.597 million.

Telecommunication services export increased by 4.45%, rising from $165.45 million to $170.770 million. Within telecommunication services, call centers services showed an 8.84% increase, reaching $75.800 million from $69.641 million. Other telecommunication services experienced a marginal decrease of 0.88%, going from $95.809 million to $94.790 million, according to PBS data.
