Pakistan’s Minister for Economic Affairs,  Canadian High Commissioner Scanlona Hold Talks

ISLAMABAD: Leslie Scanlona, Canadian High Commissioner, met with Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, today at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Islamabad.

Senior officers from the Economic Affairs Division, including the secretary, were present at the meeting.

The Minister for Economic Affairs conveyed a warm welcome to the High Commissioner of Canada and emphasized the strong bilateral connections between Pakistan and Canada. The Federal Minister stated that Canada’s diverse Pakistani community benefits both countries.

The Federal Minister for Economic Affairs appreciated the Canadian High Commissioner for Pakistan’s support at this challenging time and expressed gratitude for the Canadian government’s support. It was stated that Canada has always assisted Pakistan.

While discussing the trade volume between the two countries, the Federal Minister said that significant potential for further strengthening and deepening ties remains to be explored.

Leslie Scanlona, the high commissioner for Canada, revealed that her country has worked on several bilateral and multilateral projects in Pakistan. Further information was provided, including that Canada wants to improve its economic and trade ties with Pakistan in several industries to maximize international trade.

Higher officials on both sides agreed to strengthen future partnerships to benefit economies, cultural exchange, and mutual assistance to gain a significant comparative advantage. In conclusion, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together to strengthen bilateral relations.
