ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Pakistan’s main opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) called on United States Ambassador Donald Blome on Monday and discussed a various issue pertinent to the bilateral relationship.
As per a statement issued by the US Embassy, Ambassador Blome met with the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, to address various issues crucial to the bilateral ties. These discussions included US support for ongoing economic reforms, human rights concerns, and regional security matters.

Emphasizing the significance of sustained economic reforms for fostering stable and secure futures for Pakistanis, Ambassador Blome reiterated Washington’s backing for Islamabad’s engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on reform initiatives.

Moreover, Ambassador Blome underscored the mutual interests shared by both countries and highlighted opportunities for advancing shared objectives, particularly in expediting climate change initiatives under the Green Alliance framework.
The meeting was attended by the PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Asad Qaiser, and Raoof Hassan.

Talking to journalists after the meeting, PTI leader Omar Ayub said that the Foreign Office had notified their party about the US Ambassador’s interest in a meeting. PTI responded by suggesting the utilization of official channels for communication.
Addressing queries about the potential release of PTI founder Imran Khan, Ayub clarified that the ambassador holds no sway over such matters. Imran Khan has persistently claimed that a foreign conspiracy, allegedly orchestrated by the US administration, led to his removal from the prime minister’s office following a vote of no confidence.
