Pakistan’s PM Condemns Suicide Blast in Peshawar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday strongly denounced the suicide attack inside a mosque at police lines in Peshawar, the capital city of the northwest province of the country.

In a statement, PM Shehbaz said targeting the mosque proves that the mosque attackers have nothing to do with Islam.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said terrorists want to create fear in the country by targeting those who are rendering the duty of defending the motherland.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to rooting out terrorism. He said the whole nation and institutions are united and unified to eradicate terrorism. He said the whole nation salutes its martyrs.

Security in Peshawar

PM Shehbaz Sharif said a comprehensive strategy would be adopted on the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The center will cooperate with the province in increasing the anti-terrorism capacity of the provinces.

Shehbaz Sharif said the Interior Minister had been instructed to assist in increasing the capacity of the CTD force of the provinces, particularly that of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Commiserating with the bereaved families of martyrs, the Prime Minister also prayed to the higher ranks of martyrs.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali has strongly condemned the suicide attack. 

Talking to the media after visiting the blast site in Peshawar, he appealed to the people of Peshawar to donate blood for the injured persons.

PM departs for Peshawar

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has left for Peshawar to receive a briefing on all aspects regarding the blast in Peshawar Police Lines Mosque.

The Prime Minister will also visit the people injured in the blast

Federal Minister of Defense Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb and Federal Minister of Interior Rana Sanaullah are accompanying the Prime Minister.
