Pakistan’s PM for Health Sector Reforms to Improve Standards

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday emphasized the introduction of reforms in the health sector.

While chairing a meeting of the task force on reforms in medical education and patient care, the prime minister said that reforms in the health sector were vital in the current situation. He also urged for improving the standards of medical education in accordance with contemporary requirements.

The participants of the meeting were briefed on the strategy to develop the health sector at par with international standards. PM Kakar said that considering its importance, enhanced attention should be given to uplifting the nursing sector.

The meeting was also briefed on the measures taken for improvement in the health field in coordination with the health ministry, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan, the Higher Education Commission, and medical universities.

Strategy for Health Sector

It was said that a three-pronged strategy had been devised for health sector reforms to enforce the rules and regulations of international standards.

The participants were also apprised of the reform strategy for the graduate and postgraduate levels in the sector of health.

The premier commended the performance of the task force working under Special Assistant Dr. Amir Bilal for bringing in health sector reforms.
