Pakistan’s PM Renews Pakistan’s Commitment to Healthcare Access for All

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his government’s dedication to ensuring healthcare facilities for all citizens on Sunday.

“In our pursuit of a healthier nation, I reaffirm our commitment to revamp Pakistan’s healthcare sector comprehensively, guaranteeing access to quality healthcare for every Pakistani,” the prime minister stated in his message on World Health Day.

He emphasized the theme of the year, “My health, my right,” underscoring every individual’s entitlement to superior health services. 

Promising to fulfill the PML-N manifesto’s pledge, the prime minister highlighted their focus on enhancing primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare, along with bolstering medical education, preventive healthcare, and governance.

Healthcare Policy

“We will collaborate with provincial governments to expand and enhance healthcare facilities, introduce mobile health clinics for better accessibility, revitalize immunization efforts, and enhance mental health services,” the prime minister’s statement, as quoted by the PM Office Media Wing, expressed.

Highlighting key priorities, he mentioned the establishment and functioning of Medical City, Cancer Care Hospitals, and Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute facilities in each province.

“Our introduction of the Health Card during PMLN’s 2013-18 tenure reflects our commitment to universal health coverage and insurance, particularly for low and middle-income families,” he added.

On World Health Day, the prime minister commended the dedication of healthcare professionals, paramedics, nurses, and other frontline workers who tirelessly serve the nation.
