Pakistan’s President for Raising Awareness About ZARRA Act, Implementation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President, Dr Arif Alvi, on Wednesday stressed the need to raise awareness about the Zainab Alert Response and Recovery Agency (ZARRA) Act and its effective implementation to protect the children.

He said that effective coordination and prompt sharing of information among different stakeholders, including the Police of all provinces and ZARRA, could help in the timely recovery of the missing and abducted children.

The President expressed these views while chairing a meeting on the implementation of the ZARRA Act 2020, at the Presidency. The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Human Rights Allah Dino Khowaja, Additional IGs Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab Police, IG ICT, representatives of NGOs and senior officials of the government.

Secretary of Human Rights Gives Presentation on ZARRA Act

The Secretary of Human Rights gave a detailed presentation on the act. He informed that 2246 cases of missing minors had been reported since 2020. He apprised the meeting about the progress with regard to the act.

The secretary said that a coordination mechanism with the Police had been devised, besides maintaining data at the PM portal and launching the ZARRA android app.

The meeting agreed to frame a training module for the police officers at the district and community levels to educate and sensitize them to take prompt and timely action for the early recovery of the missing children.
