Pakistan’s Senate Health Committee Okays Emergency Treatment Bill

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Senate Health Committee accorded approval to the Emergency Treatment Bill, which focuses on emergency medical procedures prior to the medicolegal process of the patients, on Wednesday.

Senator Humayun Mahmood said that all aspects of the bill are acceptable and crucial for prioritizing medical interventions aimed at saving lives.

He emphasized the significance of medical-legal actions that go beyond mere paperwork, stressing the need to prioritize patient well-being while maintaining confidentiality.

Senator Robina Khalid expressed concerns about the influence of the “nursing council mafia”, alleging that prominent figures have been compromised.

She stressed that the “nursing council mafia” has thwarted progress by infiltrating influential secretaries.

Robina Khalid clarified that she did not advocate for removing anyone from their positions but insisted that there was no individual across the country capable of replacing those currently in their posts.

Senator Criticizes Registrar of Pakistan Nursing Council

The senator accused that the Registrar of the Pakistan Nursing Council is sitting idle, stressing the need for accountability.

Robina said that those responsible for granting permissions to open nursing colleges should face consequences.

She urged for strict punishment for anyone who has accorded approval for the opening of nursing colleges without proper scrutiny and argued that shutting down nursing colleges is not a solution.
