ISLAMABAD: Palak Paratha is a healthy, mouth-watering flatbread that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It is made with spinach, whole wheat flour, chilies, and carom seeds and is onion-garlic free. Serve this tasty spinach flatbread with white butter, curd, or pickle for breakfast.
A simple recipe for Palak Ka Paratha:
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour, 1 cup finely chopped spinach, 1 green chili, finely chopped, 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder, 1/2 teaspoon garam masala, salt to taste, water for kneading, ghee or oil for cooking
Instructions:
- Combine whole wheat flour, chopped spinach, green chili, garam masala, cumin powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a smooth dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a ball.
- Roll out each ball into a round like a chapati or roti.
- Heat a tawa over medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on it.
- Cook one side until you see tiny bubbles, flip the paratha, and cook the other. Apply a little ghee or oil on both sides while cooking.
- Cook until both sides are golden brown.
