PARIS: Pop megastar Paul McCartney‘s daughter has given a special peek into Abbey Road’s hallowed halls, the studio where he — and several other music stars — recorded masterpieces.

Paul McCartney’s daughter directed the new documentary titled: “If These Walls Could Sing,” which will be released worldwide on Disney+ on 6 January after premiering in North America in December 2022.

The London studio gave its name to potentially The Beatles’ most beloved record, 1969’s “Abbey Road,” and it was on the nearby zebra crossing that the Fab Four captured their legendary cover picture.

“I have a personal association with the studio,” Mary McCartney told AFP.

“I grew up coming here, and we lived nearby. I have a hilarious picture that I love — my mother (Linda McCartney) leading a pony across the zebra crossing.”

Inevitably, The Beatles occupy a significant part of the one and half hours of documentary since they recorded around 190 of their 210 songs at The Beatles.

Established in 1931 by record company EMI, Abbey Road has a long history.

Initially dedicated to classical music, the studio had cutting-edge technology and was used by conductor and composer Edward Elgar shortly before his demise in 1934.

“A large number of people come to Abbey Road to the zebra crossing but do not come inside because it is a busy working studio, so I wanted to give inside of the studio to viewers,” Paul McCartney said.

Several stars have since sought to tap into the magic of the place, from Pink Floyd and Elton John to Oasis and Led Zeppelin — all of whom feature in the latest film.

“Each person narrates a different story, different aspects of what makes Abbey Road special,” Mary McCartney said.

Recently, Beatles fans have been spoiled, with the new documentary coming a little over a year following “Get Back” in which director Peter Jackson painstakingly reused footage of the band writing and rehearsing the album titled: “Let it Be,” including their famous performance on the Abbey Road’s roof. – AFP/APP
