LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Saturday that the former New Zealand all-rounder, Grant Bradburn has been appointed as head coach of the Pakistan side following a robust recruitment process.

The cricket board said Bradburn would lead the Pakistani team’s coaching panel for the next two years.

The Bradburn served as the head coach of the side during the currently-concluded home series against New Zealand on a consultancy basis. Babar Azam side defeated the touring nation 4-1 in the five-match ODI series that took them to the top of the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings in the format. The five-match Twenty-20 International series was shared 2-2.

Having lastly served as the fielding coach of the Pakistan side from 2018 to 2020, Bradburn is good-versed in the strengths and challenges of the national side.

Najam Sethi, PCB Management Committee Chairperson, said: “After the announcement of Mickey Arthur as a team director, Grant Bradburn’s appointment is another step in our try of putting together a highly-qualified coaching panel so our cricket players can benefit from their experiences and dominate international cricket in all three formats.”

Reflecting on his appointment as the head coach of Pakistan’s men’s side and unveiling the strategy, Bradburn said: “It is an honour for me to work with a highly skillful and talented side like Pakistan as a head coach. We’ve been working hard to raise our cricket game and are eager to showcase our skills.”

The ex-South Africa cricketer Andrew Puttick has signed a two-year contract as the Pakistan batting coach. Strength and conditioning coach Drikus Saaiman and physiotherapist Cliffe Deacon will continue their work in their roles, and other appointments for the positions will be announced in due course.
