LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to finalize the selection of new coaches for the Pakistan cricket team by the coming week, local media reported.

Discussions are underway with Gary Kirsten from South Africa and Luke Ronchi from New Zealand, as Shane Watson, Mike Hesson, and Darren Sammy have declined offers for coaching positions. Both Kirsten and Ronchi have asked for time to deliberate, considering long-term contracts on the table and consulting with their families and friends before making a decision.

While senior players have shown interest in being part of the decision-making process, they are yet to be consulted, though they have voiced no objections to foreign coaches, given their familiarity with them from various franchise leagues.

Additionally, the PCB is in contact with former Australian cricketer Jason Gillespie for a coaching role. The PCB aims to combine the expertise of both local and foreign coaches, with Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gul already signed for two years.
