ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a health update on the injured pacers Naseem Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, and Ihsanullah, stating that the trio will need rehabilitation to recover from their respective injuries.

Naseem Shah’s Muscle Injury

Naseem Shah, who suffered an injury to a muscle just below his bowling shoulder during Pakistan’s game against India at the Asia Cup 2023, underwent successful shoulder surgery last week. The 20-year-old fast bowler has been discharged from the hospital and will undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of two physiotherapists both at the training ground and the gym. He is set to meet the operating doctor in the third week of October for further evaluation.

Ihsanullah, the right-arm pacer who made his one-day international debut against New Zealand, has been rested from international cricket due to an elbow injury. He underwent surgery in Lahore after a doctor was flown in from England for the operation. Following the surgery, he has been placed in an elbow brace for four weeks, with daily supervision from a doctor and physiotherapist.

Mohammad Hasnain, the fast bowler who sustained an ankle injury during the Sri Lankan Premier League in August, underwent an MRI in England, which revealed the need for rehabilitation. Hasnain has been undergoing the rehabilitation process since September 13 to recover from his injury.

The injuries to these players have posed a significant challenge to Pakistan’s fast bowling department, impacting the national team’s bowling bench strength during the ongoing World Cup 2023.
