PDMA Warns of Heatwave in Various Areas

LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab on Wednesday issued a warning about an imminent heatwave hitting the province from Wednesday. According to PDMA, temperatures are expected to rise by three to five degrees Celsius from May 8 to May 10. Additionally, thunderstorms and heavy rains are predicated for the region in the last days of this week.

Specifically, South Punjab is likely to experience substantial rainfall from May 10 to 11, with thunderstorms expected across most districts of Punjab. PDMA Director General Irfan Kathia urged the public to exercise caution due to the potential risks associated with both the heatwave and heavy rains, highlighted the threat posed to various crops.

The district administrations throughout Punjab have been notified of the new weather situation. This warning from PDMA follows a prediction by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday, which stated that several areas including Murree, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and others will witness rain, dust storms, and thunderstorms from May 10 to 12.

Meanwhile, other regions like Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, and others are expected to receive downpours on May 10 and 11.
