NEW YORK: Jessica Pegula, ranked fifth in the world, noted her improved condition following recovery from an injury setback that disrupted her claycourt campaign.

However, she remains uncertain about her participation in the upcoming French Open, commencing on May 26. Renowned for her consistency on the WTA Tour, the 30-year-old clinched the Montreal title ahead of the US Open last season but has encountered challenges this year due to health issues.

After withdrawing from Stuttgart and Madrid, Pegula confirmed her absence from Rome this week and hinted at the possibility of skipping Roland Garros. Expressing optimism about her recovery yet acknowledging the need for cautious training, Pegula shared the update on Instagram, omitting details about her latest injury. Her recent competitive appearance was in the Billie Jean King Cup in April, having previously missed tournaments in the Middle East due to a neck problem in February.
