PEMRA Bans Broadcasting of Imran Khan’s Speeches

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has prohibited all news media channels from broadcasting speeches of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan. The ban was imposed under the PEMRA Act 2002.

According to the PEMRA notification, any TV channel that violates the PEMRA directives would face legal action.

PEMRA has directed all the television channels not to broadcast speeches of PTI chief Imran Khan. The television channels have also been directed not to broadcast any derogatory remarks against state institutions.

The PEMRA notice added that despite warnings, many channels are not installing transmission delaying mechanisms. It added that anti-institution statements were telecasted this morning, which is a violation of court rulings.
