ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has offered a big discount to passengers travelling between Beijing and Islamabad with immediate effect.
A senior official told APP on Wednesday that the new single fare is now RMB 4,681 (Rs152,341), including all taxes, from Beijing to Islamabad. “This will facilitate those who want to visit their families in Pakistan during the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays.”
Earlier, the Pakistani national flag carrier announced a cut in the existing fare of the Beijing-Islamabad-Beijing round trip, and the new price is now RMB 12,050 (Rs 392,197) inclusive of all taxes.
The PIA currently operates weekly passenger flights on Islamabad-Beijing-Islamabad and Islamabad-Chengdu-Islamabad routes on Sundays and Wednesdays, respectively.
PIA to Start Weekly Flights on the Islamabad-Xian-Islamabad route
In addition, the PIA, with the help of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), has also been approved to start weekly flights on the Islamabad-Xian-Islamabad route. To start flights on this route, the airline is making necessary arrangements.
China will scrap the quarantine requirement for international arrivals from January 8. People travelling to China have been asked to get the nucleic acid test within 48 hours before boarding their flights.
Pakistani educationist, Ali Imran, told APP that the new discount would greatly facilitate Pakistani businessmen and professionals who could only meet their families for a few years due to Covid-19 travel restrictions and soaring travelling costs.
“Now they could avail of this offer and visit their families in Pakistan during winter holidays,” he added. APP
