SEOL: A passenger was taken into custody after he opened the emergency door of an Asiana Airlines flight when it landed in South Korea.

All 194 passengers onboard the plane survived, which landed safely at the Daegu International Airport on Friday but with its door open, the BBC reported.

Some passengers fainted, while others had breathing issues and were shifted to hospital.

The passenger, in his 30s, was arrested by police immediately upon landing.

An Airbus A321-200 Flight OZ8124 had taken off from Jeju Island at about 11:45 local time (03:45 GMT).

As it was ready to land about an hour later, a man opened the emergency door while the jet was still 250 meters from the ground.

Passenger’s video

A passenger’s video, viral on social media, showed the gap in the left-hand side of the jet and winds buffeting rows of passengers.

According to passengers, the flight attendants could not stop the man because the jet was about to land.

They said the passenger had also tried to jump out of the flight after opening the door. It caused panic on the plane.

Several children had also been on board, travelling to a weekend sporting event.

The mother of one of the school-age students said that children were frightened, shaking, and crying.

Police said the man did not explain his irresponsible actions, nor was he drunk at the time of his arrest.

A police officer said it was difficult to converse normally with the suspect. Police will thoroughly investigate the crime and will punish the man accordingly.
