ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has raised objections over some changes in rules regarding the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) during the caretaker government’s tenure.
Talking to the media on Thursday, he said that the rules introduced a provision for a federal representative to be included as a member of IRSA, deviating from its spirit. He said that they had decided to raise concerns over the matter. He further said that changes were made regarding the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) in the absence of the National Assembly.
On the other hand, Sindh irrigation minister said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured withdrawal of the notification with regard to appointment of Chairman of the Indus Rivers System Authority (IRSA), a local channel reported on Thursday.
The CM Sindh argued with the Prime Minister that the Council of Common Interest (CCI) had decided that the head of the river authority will be appointed on rotation from the members of all provinces.
