PM Shehbaz Sharif Meets King Charles, World Leaders in London

London: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday met different world leaders on the occasion of the coronation of King Charles III. According to the Prime Minister’s office, the prime minister met with President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of Sri Lanka Wickremesinghe, President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema, President of Malta George William Vella, President of Mauritius Prithvirajsing, Secretary General of Commonwealth Patricia Scotland and Minister of State United Kingdom Andrew Mitchell. During the interaction, they discussed matters of mutual interest.

Similarly, Shehbaz Sharif represented Pakistan at the ceremony of King Charles’s coronation in London. The PM representing Pakistan conveyed best wishes on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan to the King.  Earlier, on Friday, Shehbaz Sharif also attended a gathering of Commonwealth leaders in London.

Speaking at the event, Shehbaz Sharif noted that the accession of the new monarch, who is also head of the Commonwealth, also opened new vistas and fresh paths for the multilateral forum and was appropriate event to infuse the organization with even greater energy.

He underlined the significance of the Pakistan-Commonwealth partnership, especially on youth empowerment and engagement.  On the sidelines, Shehbaz Sharif also interacted with a number of global leaders, including UK’s PM Rishi Sunak and the Secretary General of the Commonwealth.

The PM’s participation at the coronation of the King underscores the enduring and multifaceted relations that continue to exist between the two friendly nations, inter alia via the Royal family’s longstanding association with Pakistan and its people.
