PM Vows to Facilitate Saudi Investment in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday assured his government’s full support to the Saudi investment.

The Prime Minister gave the assurance while addressing a dinner gathering hosted in honor of visiting delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The PM said that the support by the Pakistani government to the Saudi investment would enable the businessmen to accomplish their future projects in Pakistan expeditiously with joint ventures for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries.

The prime minister went on to say the Saudi leadership and their leading investors and businessmen wanted to help Pakistan.

He noted that it was not the government’s job to do business but it had to make policies and act like a catalyst to remove all the hurdles for speedy achievement of economic goals.

Govt committed to remove all bureaucratic hurdles

He said that the government was committed to removing all the bureaucratic hiccups and paving the way for foreign investment.

Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, cabinet members, the Saudi ambassador in Pakistan, members of the delegation, and senior officials were present on the occasion.

The prime minister said that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) was a vehicle to attain all those projects in the interest of the people of Pakistan and the Saudi investors, leading to further enhancing the bilateral cooperation and partnership.

He observed the model of the SIFC was acceptable to the Saudi delegation and they were fully satisfied with the existing opportunities.

The prime minister went on to say that from diverse projects, the Saudi investors could earn profits.

He expressed his satisfaction with the solid and tangible progress achieved during the delegation’s engagements with the Pakistani counterparts. He said that shortly, they would witness solid contracts worth billions of dollars.

Recalling his visit to Saudi Arabia during Ramadan, the prime minister termed his meeting with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman wonderful. The PM said he was extremely encouraged and deeply impressed with forward forward-looking vision of the Crown Prince that transformed the KSA in many ways in the fields of agriculture, communication, education, IT, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

He went on to say the Crown Prince’s dynamic and visionary leadership had made the KSA among the most progressive societies in the world, the fastest growing economy with advanced infrastructure, provision of jobs, and progress in every walk of life.

The prime minister said that the engagements of the Saudi delegation with the Pakistani counterparts would further enhance the bonds of friendship.

The Prime Minister said Saudi Arabia has always stood with Pakistan through thick and thin and in different times. He also thanked the generosity of Saudi Arabia towards Pakistan over the last seven decades.

Saudi Assistant Minister for Investment Ibrahim Al Mubarak, on the occasion, thanked the prime minister for hosting them warmly.

He said that their visit was a testimony to their deep friendship and strategic partnership which was very vital.

He also praises the response of the private sector that interacted with them, adding that the ties between the two brotherly countries were very strong and could achieve common economic objectives.
