ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned the concerned authorities in the wake of rain-wind and thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills in Balochistan and upper parts of Pakistan on Monday and Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall might lead to flooding in Balochistan, while snowfall in mountainous areas could cause road closures.

A westerly wave is expected to enter Balochistan by the night of February 25 and then affect the upper regions by February 26. Under this weather system, Balochistan is likely to experience rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall in various districts including Chaghi, Quetta, and Zhob.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, similar weather conditions are expected in districts such as Chitral, Swat, and Peshawar from the night of February 25 until February 27, with irregular breaks. Isolated hailstorms may also occur during this time period.

Gilgit Baltistan and AJK are predicted to experience rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall over the hills. Meanwhile, Punjab, Islamabad, and parts of Sindh are expected to witness light to moderate rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall in specific areas.

The PMD warns of possible disruptions including road closures due to snowfall in Balochistan, Murree, and other mountainous regions. Landslides are also a concern in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.

Additionally, wind thunderstorms may pose risks to structures such as electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels. Farmers as well as tourists are advised to exercise caution during this weather spell.
