LAHORE: Rana Sanaullah, the Punjab chapter President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), announced on Friday that his party will be fielding candidates in all constituencies of the national and provincial assemblies in Punjab. Sanaullah’s remarks come as the government’s tenure is set to end in August, and the prime minister has promised timely elections.

Speaking at a news conference in Lahore, Sanaullah stated that the PML-N is commencing its electoral activities and emphasized the party’s determination to carry out election campaigns in Punjab with full force. He confirmed that PML-N candidates would be present in all 433 constituencies, including 297 provincial and 146 national assembly seats.

Sanaullah highlighted that, in previous elections, there were instances where the PML-N did not field candidates in certain constituencies. However, this time the party considers it a challenge to ensure that their party symbol, the tiger, is represented in every constituency. He emphasized the party’s strong organizational structure at the Union Council level and expressed full support for their candidates in the upcoming elections.

PML-N’s Seat Adjustment with Other Parties

The PML-N leader mentioned the possibility of seat adjustments with other parties, particularly in southern Punjab, where assistance may be needed. However, he made it clear that the party’s priority would be to support winning and dedicated candidates without compromising on their principles.

Sanaullah also criticized the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, accusing them of dividing the country’s politics, injecting poison into it, and misleading the youth. He lamented the alleged political vendetta and false cases made against the PML-N leadership, leading to the imprisonment of innocent individuals.

Highlighting the achievements of the PML-N during its previous tenures, including the 1999 nuclear tests, Sanaullah expressed confidence that the coalition government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has successfully steered the country out of economic crises and prevented default. He assured the public that if given their trust in the upcoming elections, the PML-N would not disappoint, prioritizing the country’s prosperity and ending ongoing crises.
