Police, Lawyers Clash in Lahore

LAHORE: A clash took place between lawyers and police outside the Lahore High Court on Wednesday over demonstration against shifting the civil courts from Aiwan-e-Adal to Model Town, local media reported. As per local media reports, the protesting lawyers attempted to enter the High Court by removing the barricades around its premises and also threw stones at the police personnel.

Some section of media reported that the police arrested various lawyers as the protests intensified.  The Lahore High Court Bar Association has refused conducting talks with the police personnel. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran has told the media that the police will continue to show restraint, but will take action as per the law if there is a violation from the protestors.

He claimed that the police are showing maximum patience, saying that the police only used tear gas following lawyers pelted stones at them. He added that one of Police SHO and one constable has been wounded during the clash.

The DIG Operations further said there are at least 2,000 police personnel for the security of the high court.
