KARACHI: Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi underlined the critical role of political stability in ensuring the economic progress of the country. He expressed these remarks during an annual award ceremony of the Korangi Association of Trade & Industry in Karachi. The President also emphasized the considerable donations of the business community in Karachi to charitable activities.

President Alvi admitted Karachi’s important contribution, accounting for about 70 percent of Pakistan’s revenue. However, the President said that despite the current discussions on Karachi’s matters, the city’s development has been delayed by political issues.
The President called upon the business community to take the lead in resolving the pressing issues. He urged an active approach to address issues such as stunting, mental stress, malnutrition, and breast cancer.
Stressing transparency in decision-making, he emphasized that the business community must not only raise concerns but also take solid steps to resolve them. The President further advocated for meritocracy as the foundation of the political arena.
