LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Supremo Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan, initially set for mid-September, has been rescheduled for mid-October, as confirmed by party insiders. The decision was reached through consultations between Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and close family members in London.

The alteration in plans emerged following recent developments, notably the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) announcement indicating that elections could not be held within the next 90 days.

While earlier reports had indicated a mid-September return, party sources disclosed that the change was prompted by concerns about the scorching weather in September, deemed unfavorable for substantial political gatherings.

Shehbaz Sharif, who recently relinquished his position to Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, traveled to London to meet with elder brother held discussions with him before the decision was made. The revised plan is to ensure a more comfortable environment for political engagements.

In anticipation of Nawaz Sharif’s homecoming, the party will hold public rallies and a warm welcome.

Nawaz Sharif departed for London on November 19, 2019, seeking medical treatment following approval from the Lahore High Court (LHC) to travel abroad for a duration of four weeks. During his absence, PML-N leaders consistently affirmed that Nawaz Sharif would return to the country and reunite with his supporters before the upcoming general elections.
