WASHINGTON: An online poll conducted from December 5 to 11, reveals that President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump are neck-to-neck in 2024 presidential race.

As per Ipsos poll the 2024 presidential election would be closely contested and both candidates have equal chance of going to the White House.

In the poll, 4,411 US adults expressed their views showing Trump holding a marginal 2-point lead in a head-to-head contest. Trump got 38% votes and Biden grabbed 36%, while 26% remain undecided.

Trump is the main frontrunner for the Republican nomination, but the poll reveals a sense of apathy among many voters regarding Biden-Trump rematch, with approximately six in 10 people expressing dissatisfaction with the two-party system in the US.

A major factor in the mix views is the emergence of activist Robert F Kennedy Jr, who has started an independent election bid.

The poll says that Kennedy could get more support from Biden than Trump.  It says that when people are given opportunity to vote for Kennedy then Trump has an advantage, with 36% support.

The poll underlines the potential influence of third-party candidates in US polls. It recalled instances such as Ross Perot in 1992 and Ralph Nader in 2000.

The survey also underscored the Electoral College system’s impact and the vital role played by voters in a selected few states.
