President Stresses Projection of Pink Salt as Pakistani Product in Global Markets

KHEWRA: Pakistan’s President, Dr Arif Alvi, on Thursday stressed the need for projecting pink salt as a Pakistani product in potential international markets after its value addition in line with global standards.  

During his visit to the Khewra Salt Mine, President Alvi said that a significant amount of foreign exchange could be earned by adding value to the local raw salt and making multiple products.

He also emphasized utilizing modern technology to minimize the loss of salt during the mining process as well as adopting responsible and atmosphere-friendly mining ways.

He said Pakistan had huge reserves of high-quality rock salt, which was full of minerals and low cost. The president also reviewed the tourist places inside the mine.

On the occasion, he was briefed on different ongoing projects of the Pakistan Minerals Development Corporation in Khewra.

The President was informed about the salt quality found in Khewra and various salt ingredients.

Pakistan Minerals Development Corporation’s Managing Director informed the president about different aspects of salt mining from Khewra Salt Mine.

President Inaugurates Salt Library

President Dr Alvi also inaugurated the salt library at the Mine and visited the Asthma Center, where he interacted with the patients.

He showed keen interest in the historical background of the Mine.
