May 9 was a Conspiracy, Revolt Against Pakistan: PM

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that May 9 was a conspiracy, revolt against state institutions. He was addressing a special meeting of the federal cabinet.

He said that May 9 was the darkest day in the country’s history.  He said that the May 9 was carried out to derail Pakistan’s ties with friendly nations. The Prime Minister said that May 9 was a revolt and conspiracy against Pakistan and the country’s institutions.  The PM said that PDM led government restored ties with friendly nations and also saved the country from default.

He said that no one can tolerate May 9 like incidents as actions have been taken against the violators of law in the US as well.

Earlier, in separate message the PM said Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that May 9 was a day that separated two distinct mindsets, one that sacrificed for the nation and the other that betrayed the country for personal benefits.

In a statement via social media, the Prime Minister said that one year has passed, but the people of Pakistan have not forgotten its betrayers and will never forget them. The PM maintained that “on one hand, we have the great sons of the soil, their families, and the patriotic people who have shed their blood for the nation, on the other hand, we have those who are consumed by the fire of hatred and have no regard for the national interests, constitution, laws and institutions”.

“We promise to the nation, the great martyrs, and their heirs that May 9 will never be forgotten”, he said saying “we must move forward, overcome the issues, and create a bright future for our next generations”.

The PM said that this day served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by their heroes and the treachery of those who betrayed the nation.

He further stated “Let us honour the memories of our martyrs and continue our journey towards development and progress.”
