Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif Meets with Islamic Development Bank President

RIYADH: President of the Islamic Development Bank, Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasir, held a significant meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif during the special session of the World Economic Forum.

The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of various ongoing projects undertaken by the Islamic Development Bank in Pakistan. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed gratitude for the substantial investment of one billion US dollars by the Islamic Development Bank in various projects during its previous regime.

He also commended the Islamic Development Bank’s invaluable support in Pakistan’s rehabilitation efforts after the devastating floods, acknowledging Dr. Al Jasir’s personal commitment and leadership in this endeavor.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to expeditiously completing ongoing projects and explored opportunities for further collaboration between Pakistan and the Islamic Development Bank.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif emphasized the fruitful partnership between Pakistan and the Islamic Development Bank, highlighting its pivotal role in reconstruction, employment generation, and the pursuit of sustainable development goals. He underscored the efficacy of the Special Investment Facilitation Council in attracting foreign investment and ensuring a conducive environment for investors.

In response, President Al Jasir lauded Pakistan as a founding member of the Islamic Development Bank and emphasized its significance as a key member. He expressed optimism about Pakistan’s abundant natural and human resources, emphasizing the potential for their full utilization.

The meeting was attended by several key ministers, including Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance and Revenue Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, Petroleum Minister Mosadik Malik, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, and Power Minister Owais Ahmed Khan Leghari, signifying the collective commitment of the Pakistani government to fostering strong partnerships for development.
