RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) is all set to rally its power show today in Rawalpindi to demand the coalition government to hold fresh elections in the county.

Former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan will lead the rally. Khan will announce his final plan of action in Rawalpindi, though it is yet not clear whether the PTI will hold a sit-in in case it gets no response from the government on its demands. The federal government fears that the former prime minister could ask his supporters to march toward Islamabad.

The central government had already issued a security advisory for the PTI, warning it of the risk PTI chief has from the militant groups. Khan had started his anti-government Azadi march from Lahore to Islamabad. However, the protest got a break twice, only to resume in Rawalpindi today.

A day earlier, the Deputy commissioner (DC) of Islamabad had rejected PTI permission to land the helicopter of party chief Imran khan at the Parade Ground Islamabad. Vice Chairman of PTI Shah Mahmood Qureshi again resubmitted the request with the capital city’s administration on Friday, saying the permission was necessary due to the security, despite security threats issued by the intelligence agencies for its public gathering.

The protesters of the long march from different parts of the country, including Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh, have started reaching the protest venue.
