ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has changed the nominee for the all-important chairmanship of the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC). In the latest move, the PTI has decided to replace Sher Afzal Marwat with Sheikh Waqas Akram as its nominee for the Public Accounts Committee.

The decision to withdraw Marwat’s name and nominate Akram was made during a political committee meeting, despite Marwat not being consulted or invited to the session. During the voting process, Asad Qaiser, Sheharyar Afridi, Shandana Gulzar, and Zulfi Bukhari favored Marwat.

According to local media reports, PTI’s political committee, led by Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan and Senator Shibli Faraz, will inform party founder Imran Khan about the withdrawal of Marwat’s nomination.
Earlier, on April 30, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had announced Marwat’s nomination for the PAC chairman position, claiming that all disputes had been resolved within the party.

PTI spokesperson Rauf Hassan says that the name will be announced after further consultation with the party leadership.
