ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar Khan announced the party’s chief ministerial candidates for three out of four provinces on Thursday. Earlier in the day, PTI had named Omar Ayub as the party’s candidate for the position of prime minister.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail after a meeting with the party’s founder chairman, Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar stated that Mian Aslam would be PTI’s candidate for Punjab chief minister, while Salaar Khan Kakar was selected for the same position in Balochistan. On Wednesday, Ali Amin Gandapur was nominated for the chief ministerial position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Barrister Gohar also announced that Aqibullah Khan was nominated for the speaker of the KP Assembly.

PTI to Hold Nationwide Protest Demos Against Riggings

Addressing queries, he mentioned that the party had decided to organize peaceful protests nationwide on February 17 to voice concerns about alleged election rigging. PTI supporters would participate in these protests, displaying Pakistani flags.

Gohar clarified that PTI has no intentions of forming a coalition government with PML-N, PPP, or MQM-P, emphasizing their commitment to serving the public rather than pursuing power-sharing arrangements. He reiterated PTI’s stance on democracy and vowed strong opposition until they secure what they perceive as a genuine mandate.

Urging prompt action from the Election Commission of Pakistan and the judiciary, Gohar emphasized the need to address PTI’s grievances regarding alleged electoral malpractice. He expressed confidence in PTI’s electoral success, claiming they’ve won 180 seats legitimately, contrasting sharply with parties barely securing 20 seats yet poised to govern.
