ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan announced the nomination of Sher Afzal Marwat for the crucial Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman position.

Speaking to journalists in Rawalpindi, the PTI Chairman stated, “All disputes have been resolved as the party has selected Marwat for the role.”

Last week, PTI Secretary General and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan had asserted that outspoken Sher Afzal Marwat would be the chairman of the APC. He mentioned that Sher Afzal had been chosen by the founding chairman, Imran Khan, for the slot. Contrary to Omar Ayub’s claims, headlines previously featured the names of Hamid Khan and Hamid Raza of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) for the PAC chairmanship.

In a surprising move, senior party leader Latif Khosa declared PTI’s decision to appoint Hamid Khan as the PAC chairman.
The government and opposition in the lower house of parliament recently reached a power-sharing agreement, allocating chairmanships of 26 committees to the treasury and 11 to the opposition, including the PAC top position.

During his conversation with journalists, Khan alleged that PTI lawmakers were not granted the opportunity to speak in parliament, accusing the incumbent government of politically victimizing the party. He highlighted the registration of cases against PTI leadership and workers despite peaceful protests.

Khan emphasized the significance of Imran Khan’s release, asserting efforts to secure the former prime minister’s release from jail before Eid-ul-Adha. He confidently stated, “The PTI founder will be released from Adiala Jail in May and will rejoin the public.”
