ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has categorically rejected any kind of boycott of the next month’s general elections despite the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict. Last Friday, the apex court upheld the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) depriving PTI of its iconic symbol ‘bat, whereas the party would also be deprived of reserved seats.

While talking to the media outside Adiala Jail on Monday, Barrister Gohar said that despite several challenges after the court decision, his party issued a list of candidates while contesting elections independently with their respective electoral symbols.

He also raised concerns over the SC verdict and termed it “a huge loss of democracy”, adding that the decision had affected the fundamental rights of the people of Pakistan, where such a decision would give birth to a new wave of corruption in the country.

Meanwhile, after the recent decision of the apex court, the candidates earlier affiliated with PTI have been assigned different symbols like shoes, birds, pots, the alphabet K, Bottle, Wheelchair, etc. People in the country also started commenting on social media over the strangeness of the symbols. Anti-PTI lot are busy humiliating the symbols, while pro-PTI users believe they would manage to inculcate these symbols in the mind of the voters before elections.
