ISLAMABAD: In a major development after the decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) to Restore PTI’s iconic symbol (Bat) for the coming election, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has announced to release the final list of party candidates tomorrow ahead of the General, a private television channel reported on Wednesday.

The chairman of PTI said this in response to the PHC verdict while terming the decision as historic, adding that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has no authority to deprive a political party of its election symbol.

Meanwhile, the chairman announced that the final list of the candidates would be unveiled from across the country, adding that party tickets would be awarded on merit where deserving candidates would be inducted in the run for polls.

Barrister Gohar further said that they would file a request for postal ballots to ensure the right to vote for PTI founder.

PHC Verdict on PTI Iconic Symbol

Earlier on Wednesday, the Peshawar High Court nullified the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) order of baring PTI using the ‘bat’ symbol for the upcoming elections in accounting for the inability to hold intra-party elections within scheduled time and fairness.

Later, PTI lawyers moved Peshawar High Court and challenged the ECP decision. Accordingly, a two-member Peshawar High Court (PHC) bench comprising Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Arshad Ali issued the verdict.
