ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tops the political parties awarding tickets to women on the general seats as general elections are around the corner.

The beleaguered party has awarded tickets to 21 female candidates across the country. Under the law, every political party is bound to implement the 5 percent quota for women candidates on general seats. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had on Sunday urged the political parties to ensure 5 percent representation of women on general seats for February 8 elections, in accordance with section 206 of the Elections Act, 2017.

All the political parties need to provide the ECP with the list of male and female candidates holding party tickets for general seats within a period of five days.
