RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Agriculture Department (Extension) is providing a packet of vegetable seeds to urban residents for only 150 rupees in a bid to promote kitchen gardening.
This packet contains seeds for all vegetables according to the season, including seeds for up to five varieties. Experts suggest that vegetables can be grown on the lawns, flower beds, old tires, and rooftops of urban homes.
Fresh vegetables can be obtained without the use of agricultural medicines and fertilizers. This initiative is expected to help urban dwellers in reducing kitchen expenses. Information on kitchen gardening is also being provided through lectures by experts from the Punjab Agriculture Department in schools and colleges.
