Punjab Launches Program for Free Home Delivery of Medicines

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated a program for the free home delivery of medicines to patients suffering from various diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), hepatitis, and cardiovascular ailments across the province.

The launch ceremony took place in Lahore, where CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted the significance of the initiative in providing quality healthcare facilities to the people of Punjab. She emphasized that this program is a testament to the government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens.

CM Maryam Nawaz revealed that the program was implemented within a record timeframe of eight weeks, demonstrating the government’s dedication to swiftly addressing the healthcare needs of the populace. Initially launched by Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, the program had been halted by the previous government, she noted.

Under the first phase of the initiative, medicines will be delivered to two hundred thousand patients in collaboration with the private sector. CM Maryam Nawaz also disclosed plans to revamp 300 Basic Health Units (BHUs) across Punjab, further improving healthcare infrastructure in the province.

Prior to the launch of the home delivery program, CM Maryam Nawaz chaired a session to upgrade the healthcare system. She outlined a robust five-year strategy aimed at restructuring the health department and enhancing services at rural health centres (RHCs) and dispensaries.
