Qatar Warns Over Safety of Civilians in Gaza

DOHA: Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani has stressed Doha’s total rejection of the indiscriminate bombardment of the Gaza Strip, and the attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians, and also warned of the risk of the ground escalation of this conflict to the safety of civilians in Gaza. Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani expressed these remarks during separate telephonic conversation with several top officials from Iran, Philippine and Ireland, local media reported on Sunday.

Qatar Warns Over Safety of Civilians in Gaza

As per local media reports, he received a telephone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Dr Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and discussed bilateral ties, besides to the current developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel. Sheikh Mohamed stressed to Dr Hossein Amir-Abdollahian the need to work on an urgent ceasefire and the safety of civilian population. He also highlighting the danger of a spillover of violence and the war cycle in the region, which would have very dire consequences.

Sheikh Mohamed also held telephonic talks with Ireland’s Deputy PM, FM, Defence Minister Micheal Martin and Philippine Foreign Secretary. Local media reported that they held discussions over the current developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel, and means to decrease the escalation. Sheikh Mohamed reiterated Qatar’s solid stance in condemning all forms of targeting civilian population especially women and children, adding practicing the policy of collective punishment are not acceptable. He called on the world to move rapidly to reply to the resolution of the UNGA to reach a humanitarian cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also emphasized the importance of coordinating global and regional efforts to prevent the Israeli aggression against Gaza and work hard to attain a just and comprehensive peace.
