Qatar’s Top Diplomat Meets Pakistan’s PM, Vows to Enhance Economic Partnership

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday pressed Pakistan’s strong interest in transforming its already excellent relationship with Qatar to a robust economic partnership that benefits both countries.

During a meeting with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi at the Prime Minister House, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and investment.

Highlighting the pivotal role of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to see Qatar expand its investments in key sectors of Pakistan. He assured swift coordination through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to facilitate this process.

Prime Minister Shehbaz warmly welcomed the Qatari delegation, underscoring Pakistan’s deep appreciation for the longstanding and friendly ties between the two countries. He also conveyed his best wishes to the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrehman bin Jassim Al Thani.

In response, the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for the reception and conveyed a special message from Qatar’s leadership. He reiterated Qatar’s commitment to strengthening the enduring bonds of brotherhood with Pakistan and expressed the nation’s keen interest in further investment opportunities in Pakistan.

The visit of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs to Pakistan as a special envoy underscores Qatar’s commitment to fostering closer ties with Pakistan at the highest levels of government.
