MADRID: Real Madrid has announced the loan signing of Spanish striker Joselu from Espanyol for the upcoming season. The 33-year-old forward, who recently helped Spain win the Nations League, will join Real Madrid on loan with an option to buy at the end of the loan period.

Real Madrid confirmed the agreement in a statement, stating, “Real Madrid and Espanyol have agreed on the loan of Joselu, who will be at the club for the next season with an option to buy at the end of it.”

Joselu, known for his experience and goal-scoring ability, has represented his country on three occasions, finding the net three times. His arrival at Real Madrid will bolster the team’s attack, which has been weakened due to the departures of Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, and Mariano Diaz.

Joselu’s Previous Ties to Real Madrid

Having played for 10 clubs across Spain, Germany, and England, Joselu has previous ties to Real Madrid as he featured for their B team earlier in his career. He made one appearance for Real Madrid’s senior team in the 2010-11 La Liga season.

In the recently concluded La Liga season, Joselu finished as the league’s third top goalscorer with 16 goals despite Espanyol’s relegation. His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team for the Nations League final four. He played a crucial role in Spain’s success, scoring a last-minute winner against Italy in the semifinals and making a substitute appearance in the final against Croatia, where Spain emerged as champions.
