Renowned Actor Tauqeer Nasir Calls for Promoting Pakistani Art, Culture Abroad

ISLAMABAD: Tauqeer Nasir, the renowned actor and former Director General of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), on Sunday urged cultural departments for promoting culture and art abroad to project a soft image of the country.

In an interview with APP, the actor said that cultural centers should be established in London and New York as Pakistan has a great cultural and historical heritage that needs promotion at the international level.

He said that due importance was not being given to art and culture in Pakistan and this negligence results in intolerance and extremism.

Nasir said that he was awarded with Tamgha Imtiaz 22 years ago when he was a young actor, and now he received the second highest civilian award Sitara Imtiaz in 2022.

The actor said that he worked for forty years and served Pakistan drama with great dedication to promote art and cultural values of Pakistan.

Art, cultural values should be restored

Nasir further said that the migration of his parents during partition of the sub-continent remained a great source of inspiration for him through the whole career.   

The famous actor further said that he recently met with ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif in UK and discussed art and culture matters. He said that art and cultural values should be restored to promote positivity in society through art. — APP
