KARACHI: Conrad Tribble, the US Consul General in Karachi, is optimistic about cricket’s rise in popularity in the United States as the nation gears up to host the ICC T20I World Cup for the first time.

Speaking to Geo News, Tribble expressed excitement about showcasing cricket and American sports to a global audience, including in Pakistan. He emphasized the unifying power of sports in bringing people together across borders.

Tribble highlighted the significance of the match between the US and Pakistan before the much-anticipated clash between Pakistan and India in New York, acknowledging the immense interest in the latter.

Reflecting on cricket’s history in the US, he noted its past popularity before baseball took over, expressing hope for its resurgence. Tribble envisioned cricket following the trajectory of soccer’s development in the US, becoming a sport with broad appeal. He anticipated Pakistan to be a formidable team in the tournament and assured support for visa arrangements for fans traveling to the US for the World Cup.
