River Sutlej in High Flood

ISLAMABAD: Sutlej River is in high floods owing to water released by India resulting in thousands getting displaced and many villages getting submerged in Pakpattan area of Pakistan.

The crops have been destroyed and many people are stuck in different areas with many small embankments getting destroyed owing to water pressure. Pakpattan residents have been confined to their houses as water has surrounded them from everywhere.

The authorities are also on the spot, making arrangements for the affected people. Water at Head Sulemanki has been recorded at 155,330 cusecs.

Rescue teams are also operational in the area and have evacuated over 7000 people to safer spots. The other two areas besides Pakpattan and Burewalla, that have faced water damage include Arifwala and Minchinabad.
