KYIV: Russian forces carried out an overnight missile strike on Ukraine’s southern Odesa region, causing damage to port infrastructure, Ukrainian authorities said early on Saturday.

Governor Oleh Kiper confirmed four individuals sustained injuries in the attack, affecting a boarding house and a portside grain facility. However, he did not specify the exact location of the incident.

According to Ukraine’s military, the strike involved the use of supersonic Onyx missiles launched from Russian-occupied Crimea. In recent weeks, Russian forces have consistently carried out missile and drone strikes on port infrastructure, posing significant challenges for Ukraine, a major grain producer, in exporting its products.

The situation escalated further when Moscow withdrew from a previously established agreement in mid-July. This agreement facilitated Black Sea grain shipments and played a role in addressing a global food crisis.
