MOSCOW, Russia: Russia said Saturday night that it had repelled a volley of Ukrainian missiles fired at the Crimean city of Sevastopol, and the city’s governor said two people had been wounded.

Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said in Telegram that according to preliminary information, more than 10 missiles have been shot down.

He added that a child and a woman were injured by the debris of the rocket, and several residential buildings were also damaged.

Russia annexed this territory from Ukraine in 2014.

Ukraine regularly targets the logistically important Crimea with missile and drone strikes.

Ukraine’s military intelligence chief Kirill Budanov said in January that Ukraine’s attacks on Crimea would intensify.

The Russian Defence Ministry announced early Saturday that it shot down 19 Ukrainian-made rockets over the Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine.
