MOSCOW: Russia’s foreign ministry called for maximum restraint in the context of the recent violence in Israel and the West Bank that marked another escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In a statement issued by the ministry on Saturday stated that Moscow perceived this development of events with deep concern and called upon all concerned parties to adopt maximum restraint and prevent further escalation of tension in the area.

Moscow urges for constructive dialogue

The minister further stated that the recent events clearly confirm the need to promptly relaunch a constructive Palestinian-Israeli dialogue and to relinquish all kinds of unilateral actions.

Earlier on Friday seven people were in a gun attack on a synagogue in Jerusalem and two other people were wounded in a separate attack in the city on Saturday morning.

The shooting incident came after nine Palestinians were killed in an Israeli army operation in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.
